Hello Chris. There's a guy patrolling the beaches in Florida in that Grim Reaper outfit. We must look like maniacs to you folks in Europe. I think that old British bulldog, Winston was right about us.

Watching James Baldwin vs William F Buckley: A legendary debate from 1965 on YooToob.

"After the always eloquent Baldwin evokes his personal experience to describe a perpetually disorienting and demeaning existence for African Americans, Buckley responds with facts and figures – as well as an ad hominem shot at Baldwin’s speaking voice – to argue that there’s an American Dream available to all those who would pursue it. In the end, Baldwin prevailed, earning an ardent standing ovation and a landslide victory in the Union’s vote on the motion raised."

Edit: 38 minutes in, after Baldwin's eloquent, stirring speech, he got a rousing standing ovation. I watched about a minute of Buckley's typical arrogance, then skipped to the end, where the stiff asshole barely got applause, and no one stood. Needless to say, Baldwin carried the debate in a landslide.

I actually got to the point to where I have to take a break from politics...just for a week or so.
I've been saying certain things were going to happen under the Trump admin that I've been told time and again that it's not going to happen...blah blah blah and yet here we are and everything I worried about is starting to take place.

So I'm off to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare where I can forget the world's problems.

Baldwin said 'white civilization' is the problem. Buckley said no, white civilization is the solution, and promised to defend it to the death. He mentioned negro lack of gumption as part if the problem. The House was overwhelmingly Baldwin's, as you mention.

And astonishingly little has changed in 55 years .

Trying to decide whether to break out the champagne today, or wait until noon on the 20th...

Listening to a relative-by-marriage argue at SCOTUS.
