You fellas do realize that we no longer live in frontier times and one doesn't necessarily need to use deadly force to defend ones home and castle?

Actually, to the former yes, but to the latter no. Remember, when seconds count, police are only minutes away. The police reduce crime by simply existing. But if a crime is actually being committed against you, you're own your own. Their job is to figure out who did it. Your job is to keep it from happening in the first place.
A simple google search on "kills intruder" will open your eyes. A lot of people saved their own life and property, and often the lives of others in their household, but shooting intruders. And far more often, merely brandishing the gun saves you, without every firing a shot.

The reich-wing idiots here do seem to live their lives in fear. They're quite pathetic. The rest of us know how to live rich, fulfilling, rewarding lives.

There is no mention of property owned by someone else in or before the passage I quoted. There is no discussion of public vs private property anywhere on that page. You made that shit up and are now bullshitting, claiming the page says what it does not, to try to cover yourself. I do not have time to bandy words with bullshitters. I am done with you.

Plenty of time for an assailant to haymaker you unconscious, kill your wife, kill your kids, and get away. Meanwhile, if you had a weapon in hand, they might just decide to leave instead of engage. If they engage, the playing field is equal or in your advantage.
Keep in mind that a lot of gun deaths in the USA are lawful uses of force. The shots that killed Martin and Brown, for example, were.

Martin definitely wasn't, with the other party as the instigator and escalator of a needless confrontation.

Live our lives in fear? Really in all honesty do you think that authorities can always be there when they need to be at the drop of a hat? Oh wait in your white suburbia they are 5 minutes away. Thats why you live there. Dont really have to worry about crime. Why in the he'll are you so against people defending their property? Is it because you have the mentality of "what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine"? I'm pretty sure that's not the case but that's how a criminal thinks. Do you think getting rid of guns will stop gun violence? Remember "when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns".

The odds are greater of your gun being used in a suicide or family violence scenario than they are in a home defense scenario. Just a scientific fact, the kind that emerge from counting things. But if you've never seen the sort of emotions behind the statistic, you're lucky.
