As is much of the criminal court system. I have had more than a few brushes with the law in the past and have yet to see an outcome that was equitable to the person with the least convincing attorney.

I had a son murdered in Phoenix 6 years ago and that case is still pending extradition. The paperwork alone is just getting finalized so it can be sent to Mexico. Top that off with my little sister being a Maricopa county superior court justice living in Phoenix and it just goes to show you that even a judge can't do much when they are ethical and caught in a conflict of interest scenario.

I have many examples, but don't ever think for a minute that our court system is geared to help the lower class.

We have the best justice system money can buy, if you can afford it.

I'll assume you meant to say Balzac...

One of my favorite books in my dad's large library growing up was a collection of Balzac's short stories, called Droll Stories, with the fabulous Ralph Barton illustrations.

Protesting is fine and should be allowed and encouraged in places where it belongs. Protest the government at government offices, don't interfere with the lives of your fellow man by impeding their rights to live as they see fit. In my opinion when you start injuring your neighbors you are actually injuring your own cause in the eyes of your fellow man. I am not sure about how the Capitol area is laid out in Seattle, but the zone they tried to implement in Portland last night blocked NW Glisan St. and NW Everett St. at around 11th Ave., which contain the main freeway entrance and exit for I-405 to get in and out of northwest Portland. Trying to block that flow of traffic, especially on a weekday morning is at best a bad idea. From all reports so far they were upset about the new budget. They only removed 16 million from the police budget and the protestors were looking for 50 million (6.5% vs 20%).
In depth, this looks something like an infringement of peaceful assembly, perhaps too limited to be meaningful.

I think he is saying, yeah, it's an infringement of peaceful assembly in the same way our inability to yell "fire" in a crowded theater is an infringement of our right to free speech.

The beginning of peace with all this is when one realizes the US is not a Norman Rockwell painting and never was, yet is still the best system on the planet until Jesus' return.

Everything seems fine until you cross the wrong people at the wrong time. And there is nowhere on the planet that is not true.

This is why I carry. The only one that is protecting me is me. The cops are there to find out who did it. My job is to keep them from doing it.

And this can be very helpful for those who have never seen it. I watch it about twice a year.

Though we completely agree, that comment reminds me of Hillary and I suspect others here think of someone else.

But yes, we are in agreement.
