"He has to provide evidence." Or else what? Face contempt of court, or obstruction of justice raps? Pardons don't work for those too?

What pardons don't work for is charges in state court. That's a weak spot.

The thing lies with the voters, ultimately. No matter what evidence comes out against Trump, it won't matter, during his term, unless the voters elect a Congress that will impeach him.
