Right to bear arms for self defense is a God given right seems to be the interpretation of the Second Amendment. So what does this 'God' give pacifists like me to defend myself from people with assault weapons? God is pretty unfair if you ask me.

I hereby declare that this thread is now about the NRA, all about the NRA. I would have used a smiley but this is not a laughing matter anymore. Thanks to the survivors of Parkland, FL school shooting and their bravery, we now have the fucking shameless GOP politicians hiding and the NRA on their heels. Several companies have ended the sponsorship of the NRA. United and Delta joined the list yesterday. The list will continue to grow. Hopefully money will keep pouring in to March against Guns. The sight of school children running for their lives is not a pretty picture nor can it be ever explained.

The NRA is using Trump’s playbook to attack the news media. It must be getting desperate.

One of the more outrageous assertions in a week overrun with them was Dana Loesch’s outright lie that journalists relish massacres of children.

“Many in legacy media love mass shootings,” the National Rifle Association’s fanatical spokeswoman charged. “Crying white mothers are ratings gold.”

Wayne LaPierre, the group’s chief executive, joined right in, smearing journalists and gun-control advocates alike.

“They don’t care about our schoolchildren,” he told a fired-up crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference, meeting at National Harbor, outside Washington. “They want to make all of us less free.”

Ask the school children how 'free' they feel going through metal detectors? Or adults going to a sporting event.

Life isn't fair. Why should the gods be?

Self defense is indeed one of the three reasons for 2A and these rights were part of the British constitution at the time of our revolution. The first reason is to arm citizens in order that they can form a militia and assist the sovereign (national government in our case) defend the realm. The last is to keep a tyrant from stealing our democracy. The first reason is moot since the federal government arms our state militias. The other two reasons remain.
