No. It's not. If you want to go with this racism tactic for another couple of hundred years thinking it is going to be some solution then your logic is simply wrong.

Agreed.
I identify with this to my degree. I was born and raised in Detroit. Detroit is endlessly - and often unjustly but sometimes accurately - trashed in the media and folks perceptions of the city are shaped by that. When folks ask me where I'm from, I say "Detroit", and the reactions to that are always interesting to behold.
At the end of the day, is Detroit a great city? No, not by any objective measure. But its my city, in my mind its great 'cuz its where I'm from. It may be a cesspool from other's point of view, but its my cesspool and I'll punch anyone in the mouth who calls it a cesspool.
I think there's some parallels to "southern heritage" in there somewhere, although some folks in the south would be aghast that I'm mentioning Detroit in a comparison with any square inch that's south of the Mason/Dixon line.

In the part of the country I live in that sentiment is still very strong. Typically, the white folks (as opposed to the Native Americans) that came to settle up in these hills wanted to be left alone. A lot of them still want to be left alone. If you doubt that just take a drive up into some of the "hollers" around here. You'll soon find out that "Southern Hospitality" means different things to different folks.

FWIW, Mason and Dixon drew their line to once and for all define the Maryland/Pennsylvania border.
I've a cousin who's urban pioneering in Detroit. He's been there five years and it's now his home.

I remember that. Of course they were "there" because an armed insurrection by the region demanded a military response. The Ft Sumpter bombardment may have had something to do with it.

Maybe you should suggest that to LaQuan McDonald's family or James Byrd Jr's family...and find out if they think you're an idiot, an asshole, or a racist...or maybe all three.

Well, you would think from this monument business that blacks in the North would be overwhelmingly prosperous compared to the South.

Indeed. In many of the back hollows of Appalachia, strangers are often viewed with a great deal of apprehension and suspicion. The worst part of Appalachia in this regard is southwestern West Virginia and southeastern Kentucky. I've spent considerable time there consulting on flood protection projects and it can be a tad hostile at times.
