Congress cuts Russian sanctions deal, that will also prevent Trump from lifting sanctions, which his puppet master, Putin, will direct him to do. Trump will veto, but Congress has the votes to override. Good sign, they aren't folding to Trump, at least on Russia.

Republicans need to do more than just "not fold".... they need to stand up and say "enough is enough!"

When Mueller exposes the Trump family money laundering for the Russian oligarchs, they will have no choice. Which is why Trump is so nervous about Mueller gaining access to his financial transactions.

+1.
They are afraid of the hardcore Trump supporters just like they were (are?) afraid of the TEA Party fanatics. At this point I am not even sure as to the extent of proof they will need before they invoke the I word.
If Junior or the Crown Prince are implicated and criminal proceedings can be brought against them, that would be a game changer. Trump then would have a meltdown, pardon them and quit.
Then we get Pence.

John McCain, on the other hand, has found clarity. On Twitter, he endorses a very hard-hitting Washington Post opinion piece:
Quote:
Must-read @MJGerson @washingtonpost: “Trump’s breathtaking surrender to #Russia” https://t.co/SkWocuF8dM
— John McCain (@SenJohnMcCain) July 21, 2017

Excerpt from what McCain calls "must read:"
Quote:

But once again, President Trump — after extended personal contact with Vladimir Putin and the complete surrender to Russian interests in Syria — acts precisely as though he has been bought and sold by a strategic rival. The ignoble cutoff of aid to American proxies means that “Putin won in Syria,” as an administration official was quoted by The Post. Concessions without reciprocation, made against the better judgment of foreign policy advisers, smack more of payoff than outreach. If this is what Trump’s version of “winning” looks like, what might further victory entail? The re- creation of the Warsaw Pact? The reversion of Alaska to Russian control?

The Skimm this morning...
Quote:
The Story
It looks like President Trump is going to sign off on new sanctions against Russia.
What are you talking about?
Over the weekend, lawmakers from both sides of the aisle agreed on a bill to punish Russia for interfering in the 2016 election. Think: limiting US-Russia biz ties. The fine print includes limits to Trump's ability to remove or edit the sanctions without the OK from Congress. And tacks on a few extra sanctions against North Korea and Iran. Lawmakers say that if Trump vetoes the bill, they'll override him. But the White House is saying 'no need' - he'll probably sign on the dotted line.
|
So here's what this means. Trump has two choices...
Have some integrity and veto the bill. And deal with the fallout from having his Republican pals in the Congress taking a huge public loose shit right on his face by overriding it. ...or...
Sign it. And forever STFU about the "fake news" of Russian interference in the election. And blow his plans for a geopolitical agenda with Russia on the top of the list for deals to make a pack of American 1%'ers even more filthy rich.
Apparently it's going to be the latter, but either way the stupid motherfucked played out his power bluff and lost. Congratulations asshole.

Mueller looking into Russian bots that pushed articles from fake "news" sites like BriefFart and InfoWars to social media, and whether the Trump campaign helped them target particular voters.

So, am I right in my belief that the ONLY significant bill passed so far by both houses of the current congress is the veto-proof handcuffs they just put on our Putin-loving idiot-in-chief? A fine start.
