One would hope that our system of checks and balances would preclude hugely negative consequences. OTOH, the GOP Congress has already showed a willingness to discard any principles they may have had (precious few) and roll over for their Trumpenfuhrer.

Yep, checks and balances gone, no way to stop a facists being put on the Supreme Court. Bill Moyer's Morning Read post does not paint a pretty picture.

I'm not surprised by how seemingly easy the new normal has taken hold. Americans like talking tough but are basically lazy.

A person elected who does not handle being told NO very well. One who has shown only thinks of himself not others. Yes a recipe for disaster for sure!
