When I was in my late 'teens in the Army, I contemplated the idea of somehow becoming a millionaire by the time I was 30. I had some ideas in the latter 1960s for inventions, one of which was energy efficient brushless DC motors of various configurations of original design for media drives, automotive and other uses, once the necessary high density magnetic materials and highly efficient silicon devices became available. A military lawyer advised I not apply for patents as my employer could claim them then. Time and opportunity passed and that was that, and I've seen most of the motors I had conceived (not all) in use as I had imagined. Good ideas come to many, more or less simultaneously, in their own time.

Regardless, I had no idea what my future would be, and I am living it modestly as a retiree veteran at the end of a dirt road in the Alabama woods in a double wide with some nice man toys and a partner I love and trust with the knowledge that enough is sufficiently less than some would have it, and that life has been very good to me as an autistic gay man. I do wish I had been a better person to those around me, and strive every day to be better, and to give back as selflessly as I am capable.

How does that work ?

Determine the base on which a person was born, look at the base they're on and do the math.

I don't know. My father worked in a cotton mill and my mother was a cook in the school cafeteria.

I started to work in a warehouse for $3 an hour and just stayed there working my way up through the company. Ended up buying out the owners as they retired. Took 35 years.

There were at least a dozen people working there who could have done the same thing. They just chose not to, didn't want to, whatever. They had the aptitude, but just didn't. I don't know why.

Some folks have aptitude to be chiefs, some dont, including some chiefs.
There's always more Indians than chiefs, it doesn't work the other way round, just as with chefs and kitchens.
Everybody can't be billionaires without devaluing the currency, there isn't enough resource base to support it, and it isn't necessary or desirable.
Nobody should resent the well-off for just being that, but smugness and abuse of station privilege will invite resentment.

Your mom was a government employee in a school cafeteria. She was just another person living off other people taxes while feeding you?
