No, it was his mentor, Socrates, who was killed. But that is seen by some as a reason he wasn't impressed with Athenian democracy.

Demonstrably untrue according to Sen. Sanders himself. Speaking of gall, here we have a diehard Bernie or Bust character who's actively promoting Donald T'Rump because he didn't get his glitter farting sparkle pony.
It is to laugh..

And your boy Mcauliffe has already let the cat out of the bag that she has absolutely no intention of following through on any of those "concessions" once she is elected.

I predict that the TPP will pass in the lame duck session and that Kaine will vote for it if his vote is needed.
This is a pretty toxic issue. It's likely to be the death knell of any candidate who supports it. Is it any wonder Hillary has reversed course on it, at least in terms of rhetoric.

The recent fights over the DNC platform reveal a real lack of support for progressive policy, especially on key economic issues. As Marcetic reported for In These Times “there’s no denying that the platform compromises on certain core progressive values.” While some suggested that the new platform was a “win” for Sanders, in the end the platform submits to corporate will on many issues. Committee delegates selected by Clinton and Wasserman Schultz voted down several measures dear to progressives’ hearts: “amendments advocating single-payer health care and a $15 minimum wage indexed to inflation, several proposals to halt climate change, language criticizing Israeli ‘occupation’ of Palestine and an amendment explicitly opposing the TPP trade agreement.” As Marcetic shows, delegates to the committee with corporate ties were among the most avid in promoting pro-business policy completely out of step with the sort of progressive values that once separated Democrats from Republicans. Unsurprisingly, those very same delegates were the ones connected to Clinton and Wasserman Schultz.

You are damned right I'm promoting Trump. Clinton and the DNC have to be punished for election rigging. If they suffer the humiliation of losing to Donald Trump, I will feel that justice has been done.

That was the Athenian method of execution. They would order the victim to drink hemlock. It's apparently very nasty stuff, causing extreme abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea

'Salon', the home of HaHa Goodman and malcontent BoBs of every stripe.
I notice Caucus99percent is beside themselves over the Dems taking love of country and supporting our troops away from the Repukes and T'Rump.
It was hilarious watching my fellow Hillfolk waving Old Glory in the faces of the yellowshirted BoBbleheads from California on Thursday night. It brought a tear to my eye.

This is what I was getting at...not Platonic love.
When you were talking about Democracy my point was no perfect form exists in real life. Thus the American primary system.
