Well Barb, you don't know how it pains me to be at odds with folks I though I had a kinship with all my life. How quickly they turned against me when I thought for myself, when I had my own opinions and didn't walk in lockstep.

And let's be honest, I agree there is white privilege, but disagree that all white men are recipients of it.

I understand how you feel to be at odds with folks you have had kinship with. I feel that too.

I agree with your statement that there is white privilege and I agree that not all white men are recipients of it. If that was what you felt I was saying or implying... I'm sorry. I should have been more clear.

I'm not trying to place blame on white males. I think white privilege is cultural.... Woven into our society for many many years. White females share that privilege in some ways, too.

Thank you for that. I once had a co-worker, a lovely large black woman. We got along famously. She knew my wife and kids, we'd hit a bar sometimes after work. She moved to Chicago and we kept in touch for awhile. Then she learned to hate me because I was a white man, she said I was the recipient of white privilege and was evil because of it and refused to return my message. I did nothing to earn it.

It cut like a knife.

You know what else cuts like a knife?

FOX news chose not to air a single second of Khan's speech. They needed to run a series of ads. What a surprise!

Sorry to hear of that experience.

I recall my mom making a Turkey like that, my dad ordered Chinese and tossed it.

Reminds me of the year my redneck brother bought a deep fryer. He got it all ready to go, dropped the turkey in and told me to keep an eye on it........while he got drunk. So, I sat next to this thing and made sure the temp stayed even, right where he set it...........well, about eight beers in he started strolling over and jacking the temp up, way too high. When he walked back to the bar for another round, I would turn it back down. At one point I told him he was burning it. He informed me that I "know nothing" and suggested I "...shut the fuck up.". Then, finally, he strolls over, hoists the bird and loudly pronounces it's done. (About 15 minute too early. Well, it LOOKED done.............ummm, errr..........Well, burnt actually. On the OUTSIDE.) He drops it on the table and begins carving as he brags about how much everyone is going to love it...............as blood runs out of the incisions.

Guess who was at fault for the ruined bird......

"Look at it! You fucked it up, Dave! I told you to watch the heat, you dickhead!"

Relatives. Sometimes it's VERY hard to love them.

Exactly. The intolerance of the tolerant.

My only gripe about Hillary's speech is she didn't point directly at the California delegation full of hand wringing, snot nosed whiners in their piss yellow t-shirts and said, "Kumbaya or else, mother**kers."

Then drop the mic and flip them the bird while the balloons dropped

Yeah, I still miss LBJ.
