Slaughter is slaughter, regardless of rationale. And regardless of rationale, the extermination of an adversary is both inhuman and impossible. Think of the hydra.

But if talk of extermination relieves your feelings of impotence, have at it. Just don't expect any respect or sympathy.

Ok, I'll bite. Tell me of these alternatives that would gain your respect and sympathy. Make it something that hasn't already been tried, because what's already been tried has not worked.

The current administration seems to agree that exterminating is the answer, as they don't try to capture any, just drone 'em. And they tend to release those that were previously taken in.

Targeted drone strikes and specops are the only way to directly deal with it. Intelligence does what it can, cooperation of Muslim allies and programs to counter recruitment are also possible.
