There you go being duplicitous again. I recall you calling for extermination of some subset of Muslims on these very pages. It was in response to an attack in Germany. In so doing you were adopting the rhetoric of the very politician you now claim should not be mentioned.

Oh, by the way, the name of this website is Political Chat. You have had very little problem making political hay out of any story that you learn about (from whatever source provides your talking points). It is ridiculous for you to now complain about someone making a political point out of an issue that will most certainly be addressed by dozens of politicians.

Spare me. Trump's entire platform focuses on him being the only person in the country who can magically solve all security problems on the day of his inauguration (his actual words). Accordingly, his whole schtick is to paint an apocalyptic picture, something the OP was equally willing to do. I'm not the guy politicizing this, though this would be exactly the place to do so.

There are laws in Germany that prohibit many things associated with the Nazi era, like the display of the swastika or the publication of Mein Kampf (except for the annotated edition recently published) but that doesn't mean that German students aren't taught the subject in school. They are.

You mean the songs that are full of Nazi stuff? I can see them having some issues there. Can't you?

That Nazi stuff really messed everybody up, one way or another, in that place....

If a song is about being proud of your country without mentioning Hitler or nazism is banned something is wrong in my opinion.

Can you tell us the name of the song in question? Was it perhaps the Horst Wessel Song? That was the official Nazi anthem and the co-national anthem along with Deutchland Uber Alles during the Nazi period. It's banned in Germany on that account. It doesn't mention the Nazis or Hitler.

So if it doesn't mention Hitler or the nazis it should be banned. Pathetic. You cant sing about your own country and be proud. That is exactly what I'm saying.

It was the Nazi national anthem for fuck's sake.

The flag on high! The ranks tightly closed!
The SA marches with quiet, steady step.
Comrades shot by the Red Front and reactionaries
March in spirit within our ranks.
Comrades shot by the Red Front and reactionaries
March in spirit within our ranks.

Clear the streets for the brown battalions,
Clear the streets for the storm division!
Millions are looking upon the swastika full of hope,
The day of freedom and of bread dawns!
Millions are looking upon the swastika full of hope,
The day of freedom and of bread dawns!

For the last time, the call to arms is sounded!
For the fight, we all stand prepared!
Already Hitler's banners fly over all streets.
The time of bondage will last but a little while now!

I don't know German, let alone what may be 'between the lines' given the history. I'm sure we should leave it up to them.

You wouldn't want the Germans telling you how to run your country, or so I definitely thought....
