I just caught the tail end. Lots of hands and facial expression to punctuate and emphasize. Put me in mind of another famous demagogue, though he doesn't have the same dynamic range. A less sophisticated appeal, actually. Hitler's message boiled down to 'You, the mighty German people, can do miraculous things, and I am dedicating all my life to help you do that.'
Trump shortens it to 'I'm going to do miraculous things for you.'
Was watching the NPR/PBS coverage. Once again I see evidence of public broadcasting under attack from within. The young new hires out on the floor were looking for the positive spin, while the old guard (and some more serious acolytes) up in the booth offered serious analysis from a much more informed, and less smiling, point of view.

Jimmy Kimmel's Jake Bird was there, someone as obnoxious as the debutante himself.

Typical do this that and the other and pay for all of it with tax cuts. Guess he is a Republican after all.
If HRC could dump DWS and get a great speech she could trump the Donald's fact free acceptance speech and make everybody forget it even happened. I guess we will get a Bill Clinton analysis then too.

I have to admit the same foreboding thought came to me.....just scanning the online news. I only watched one sentence of T's speech...the line where he said Clinton wants to eliminate the 2nd amendment. What brash boldfaced lies the republicans are swallowing.... I assume T's entire spew was nothing but lies and I don't care to listen to them.
The USA desperately needs to do something about it's educational system. Folks just seem to accept any old rubish told them as truth these days. They need to learn some analytical skills.

CLEVELAND (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump was jubilant Thursday night after accomplishing his goal of delivering a speech that no one will ever want to plagiarize, Trump aides confirmed.
According to his staff, Trump and his speechwriters had been working overtime during the week to create a tirade that was sufficiently bloated, unhinged, and terrifying to discourage potential plagiarists from reusing excerpts in the future.
Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign manager, said that, right until the hour the candidate took the stage, the billionaire’s writing team was scrubbing the speech of any marginally coherent passages that might prove tempting to plagiarists.
“There was one sentence toward the beginning that had traces of humanity and rational thought,” Manafort said. “Fortunately, we caught it in time.”
Watching from backstage on Thursday night, Manafort and the speechwriters erupted into a flurry of high-fives when it became clear that the speech was the rambling, demented mess they had worked so hard to create. “From the moment Mr. Trump started shrieking and his entire head turned red, we knew we had nailed it,” he said.
Harland Dorrinson, a leading plagiarism expert, shared the campaign’s assessment that the final draft of Trump’s seventy-minute rant was too repellent to entice even the least discerning plagiarist.
“I can’t see anyone lifting anything from that speech unless he wanted to sound totally batshit crazy,” he said.

Looks like a lot of musicians are none too happy with Trump and the RNC over ripping off their intellectual property during the convention.

Monkeys wore these hats but the Trump Goon Squad ripped them off.
