The title you have this thread implies that only the democrats marginalized the poor. Then in your post, you clarify by saying this was deliberate to squeeze out Bernie supporters. The FACT is that conventions are expensive, both democratic and republican, and that there was no deliberate intention of squeezing anyone out of going.

I think it would be fair for both the DNC and the RNC to provide the same per diem and travel expense allowances to their Delegates as they would receive if they were attending an event as Federal employees. That would help level the playing field for ordinary schmucks who want to be delegates. But of course this won't happen because neither one one these organizations wants people like that crashing their exclusive party.
