He could use his legs before entering the van, and Nero never touched him. Heck, even the Baltimore Mayor stated that she saw him using his legs before getting into the van.
"He was dragged a bit," said Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, "but then you see him using his legs to get into the van, so he was able-bodied when he was in the van. And we know that when he was finally taken out of the van, he was unresponsive."

Either you need to get your facts straight, or you're just not interested in the facts because they don't suit your agenda.

In the Gray case, the Prosecution argued that that Nero and other officers assaulted Gray by touching him without reasonable suspicion or probable cause (that Gray fleeing from Police was not reasonable suspicion or probable cause).
In Illinois v Wardlow, SCOTUS reversed Illinois Supreme Court. If you actually read through the SCOTUS opinion, it goes into quite a bit of detail about why they reversed for reasons specific to the arguments the Prosecution in the Gray case made at trial.

No, it doesn't. Your post was in response to this one of mine and offered in answer to the question I posed. It isn't. It isn't even close.

The long and the short of it - I trust the judge more than I trust idle Internet speculation. Unless and until I sit through the entire trial in person, I see no point in second-guessing what happened.

His arrest record a few pages long - drug possession, assault, distribution, etc. - 18 arrests. He was walking the street.
Maybe the cops were just sick of him - who knows? Sooner or later the universe has caught up with me for the stupid sh&t I've done.
Karma is a bitch - with that record prob. would have been smart to keep a low profile.

So the cops can kill with impunity, as long as it's people you don't care about?
To just start with the glaringly obvious, in that case, what's to stop them from killing someone you do care about?
As a practical matter, there are two answers: race and class.
The bottom line: you like discrimination, and don't give a fig for the rights of 'those people.' Typical right-wing sentiments, alas.

Why are you asking me questions? I should post a "You Can't Handle the Truth" meme.
Hating and killing - bad.
Assuming it does not happen - idiotic.
Avoiding cops who might hate you - wise.
Me pretending to care about some kid I have never met with a ten page arrest record - dishonest.

I see.
You don't hate Freddie Gray.
You just don't give a shit that he's dead.
And pointing out that he had an extensive arrest record was not you implying that he had it coming. It was just an FYI.
And the part about avoiding cops that hate you, that was just advisory in nature. It wasn't you implying that he brought it all on himself.

The implication seems very strong that since you 'don't care about Freddie Gray,' you don't care if the cops just kill him. Is that the case? Yes or no.
And what gives you the notion that I can't handle the truth? I think the phrase is code. I think it means "Fuck the rules."
At least regarding people you don't care about. And you can't handle the implications of that, when I bring them out a little.

Aaaaannnnd furthermore -
There are dead people lying around all over the place I don't know. I don't care about them, either.
You are correct in one of your speculations - I do care about the circumstances surrounding death as it may affect me or people I do care about. And until/if the machinations of gov. manage to correct said circumstances I will do my utmost to avoid them.
