Populism is ok, but there is a trend in American history where it sometimes co-joined with prejudice and xenophobia. Trump is another example of that. So when you talk about Populism Joad I also am reminded you support a man who is a race-baiter.

I've donated $500 to his campaign and I voted for him in the primary.

I haven't given a cent to Trump, nor do I plan to.

Your problem is you can't defend your candidate against Bernie, so you default to playing the "She's better than Trump" card because it's the only one you have.

Well, here's how I see it. Bernie has opened my eyes to what a real Democrat is supposed to stand for. He has exposed Hillary for what she really is. A closet Republican running as a Democrat. She's as phony as a three dollar bill.

As for Hillary vs. Trump, If you have two enemy soldiers, one wearing the uniform of the enemy (Trump) and one wearing the uniform of your country's army (Hillary), which one is the most dangerous?

I'm not ready to concede that as the only choice. And centrist, a.k.a. corporate or "Third Way" Democrats aren't any better than the mainstream Republicans. They're both beholden to the same "economic royalists".

But one does get enjoy the hollow comeback victories against a one legged competitor. It's a shame when one can attack the person that you are not voting for rather defend the one that you intend to.
