You are all basically right, it's case by case for any possibility of a successful outcome.
But keep in mind the aphorism of the psychiatrists and the light bulb, desire for change on the part of the afflicted is essential.

Trump does not drink, it's reported that he never did.

Yeah, things like that were a huge benefit to Johnson and Nixon.

Thanks for the reply. I think you'd be shocked at how medical detox is mostly dictated by the insurance people carry.

My recommendation to anyone in need of detox is to take ownership of the situation and consult medical professionals. I would never blindly follow a doctors recommendation

You are stubborn, you would not say the last bottle is BEST used to avoid cold turkey. BTW, if you go cold turkey from alcohol like is common (insane) they give you benzo's to lessen the withdrawal. Benzo's sit on the same receptors as the alcohol which is why it lessees the withdrawal. In this case they are effectively doing as I suggested.

Conversely (and hardly a doctor on earth knows) you can take someone addicted to Benzo's and gradually detox them through the use of alcohol.

But alcohol is a big bad thing so the mere suggestion, as I did, of using alcohol clinically makes everyone go crazy and react as they do to Trump.

yes, our pathways of thought and beliefs often halt us from thinking with open minds. This is directed at no one, just a comment to vent my frustration as I see this in all walks of life. "well that's the way we always do it." Not optimal.

You will get no argument from me.....

Maybe rational (I know, this is relative) people are the ones that will be disenfranchised this go 'round.
