In the state of Sachsen-Anhalt almost 25% voted yesterday for the extremely right wing AFD (Assholes For Deutschland.... ahmm... Alternative Für Deutschland).

The party is pretty new. Anyway a newspaper said today that the AFD will be like Tinnitus. Always audible and difficult to remove. So is Trump.

I think your newspapers are trivializing the ADF and Trump at their own peril.

The classical parties like Merkel's CDU need an examination of the AFD, a serious examination, because the they are in three parliaments now:

Sachsen-Anhalt
Baden-Württemberg
Rheinland-Pfalz

The Donald is bringing into sharp focus the danger we face. The more he does so, the more shoving and pushing will occur, and true change does not happen in the US without group violence. I look forward to Trump pointing out to Hillary that she, and her husband and Obama for that matter, represent a significant portion of the very interests that gained the most from our wealth shift. Trump's not the answer, but maybe he'll shake things up enough for some potential answers to rise up.

My point is that it doesn't pay to hope for some ill-defines vaguely positive outcome from a human catastrophe.

We've had the "War To End All Wars" from 1914 to 1918. That led directly to WWII and the Holocaust to which we all cried, "Never again!" But that was followed by the Killing Fields of Cambodia, the Rwandan genocide and the ghettoization of black South Africans and Palestinians in Israel/Palestine.

Polyanna and Scarlet O'Hara notwithstanding, today's atrocity sows the seeds for tomorrow's atrocity.
