We see this in all kinds of business not just politics. Management becomes old, stale and out of touch. The decisions are made based on past templates of success.

Trump is "a" choice John (and the only choice by default) to many who will not vote for a Democrat under any circumstances. The fact that he is charismatic, rich, successful, flamboyant and famous helps.

Damn straight. And the membership of both parties need to culled of those members primarily looking for a hook-up.
We need a new party composed of a different constituency bringing in like minded members of both parties. There are a lot out there. A Trump/Rubio Republican ticket could be a start. The GOP came together during the most fractious we've experienced. Part of why we feel old is that are two political parties are old and they're both selling old product. If we want to remain the one true New Rome the political old needs to be proscribed. All that political decay is a large part of why America stinks.

There is no correct answer and because of the Law of Unintended Consequences there is no solution.
The change you appear to want is a dream from our past. Trump may just be the catalyst for the change that is coming in America. The sooner that reaction is set off the quicker it will be over, but it won't be nice. The Civil War and the Civil Rights Revolution were not nice, but instituted positive changes that had to be made if our nation was to survive. We are living though a similar moment.

Actually the Democratic Party is really good shape if you think about it. We are lucky to have it as a bulwark against Trumpism and the rest of the "GOP" that we have today.

Trump does not represent change. I am sorry but I do not see any progress in the nativism he espouses. And even his supposed health care alternative to Obamacare seems to be a watered-down version of said Obamacare rather than single payer.
Trump is not about a progressive cause like the ones you mention. Not about ending slavery and Jim Crow.
And I would not call the Civil Rights Movement not nice. If I am remembering correctly those that were killing and using the water-canons were those opposed to civil rights not the ones that were for them.

I did not say Trump represents change. His election could be the catalyst for the change that is coming.
The revolution was not the movement, but without the movement there would have been no revolution.

There are a lot of VP picks that could make me drop Trump like a bad habit. Rubio is one of them. In fact if he picks any of those 16 or so that ran against him in the Klown Kar I'll dump him. There's plenty more too that could do the trick.
He'll have to pick someone I don't hate. That pretty much eliminates all the Republicans I can think of.

Actually the election is going to be anti-climatic. The Democrats are going to win. It is already starting to feel that way to me. The GOP might as well nominate Bozo The Clown.

Only if you and millions of others like you make the switch to Bernie.
It's not too late yet Ice, but you better hurry. That window of opportunity will be closing soon.
