Yeah, that's what I've been saying. If Trump is the nominee, most Republicans will vote for him and NONE will vote for the Democrat.

I really think it would be great idea and the country would benefit if Trump runs as an independent. Who would the GOP back? No one wants Bush, they hate Cruz and Rubio could be vulnerable especially if Trump takes him on. HRC can go on a long vacation and run a virtual campaign. I bet very few will bother to vote and there will be no consensus for the next president to govern. Maybe the country will wake up and quite electing baggers to the house.

You don't get it. This isn't a Republican thing, it's an Anti-Republican thing. The Rightys want's to clean out the establishment & that's it.
If HRC gets elected...so be it.

Yesterday I wrote that Trump is commiting political suicide step by step. That was before he announced the idea to run as an independent.

In about six months he will be gone AND forgotten.

There's no way the GOP establishment is going to hand the reins of power to the Teabaggers/Trump supporters. They'll use them as long as the 'Baggers are willing (or stupid enough) to be used. Moreover, if the 'Baggers somehow succeed in getting their candidate nominated (Trump or Cruz), that candidate will get absolutely crushed by (an admittedly weak) Hillary. That itself will probably cause the 'Bagger movement to fizzle.

I doubt that. The bagger movement has huge support in talk radio and the people who inhabit talk radio love their power in primary elections.

Real-estate mogul Donald Trump has opened up his lead among Republican primary voters to nearly 20 points, according to a New York Times/CBS poll out Thursday.

Trump garnered the support of 35% of Republican voters nationally, a 13-point increase from the previous New York Times/CBS survey. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, at 16%, and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, at 13%, were his closest competitors. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida was in fourth place, at 9%.

The Times noted that it was Trump's "strongest position yet" in the survey.

That's more or less what Trump gets when the others drop out.
