Did this girl have a gun?

Or a bomb?

No, she had a cell phone.

That's just ridiculous on multiple levels. It's not your kid, it's not your home and your job in this case is not to be a parent.

Then blame the teacher. But once you call in The Man, you've set forces in motion that can only end in one manner. The student chooses how that goes down.
I do at this time blame the teacher for the escalation. I blame Officer Slam for tossing the kid around.

Since you have all this excellent training and experience, can't you say whether all that risk of death or serious bodily harm was necessary good practice, or not?

No.

But now a days, teachers are hyper vigilant.....
We got the NRA telling them they should be armed, the media reporting one school shooting after another.... And you can't figure out all by yourself that the hyper vigilant tone in our country has people on edge?

I'd say that IQ test you took way back when didn't account for common sense.

Yes, stockton schools are nuts.

But the school my sister works in (Indianapolis) is downright scary.

Their students have to go through metal detectors on the way in and out. The number of weapons confiscated is alarming.

They have armed guards the escort certain individuals (teachers and students) to and from the parking lot.

There is more.... But you get the idea.

My daughter teaches in a rough school in Florida.

Next time I talk to her I'll ask her what she thinks of this "Officer Slam" situation.

Right..... Because the opinion of someone who wasn't there is so valuable to a discussion full of opinions from other people who weren't there. 😏

I wasn't asking my sister for her opinion on what happened in the incident we are discussing.

I was describing the situation to point out that, currently, things are different in schools than back in the day.

Please try to keep up with the discussion. 😉
