Chief Lott may or may not be right. But I can assure you no smart teacher gonna get in contact with any student. Lifting a chair with a student in it is recipe for serious lawsuits.

Chief Lott should stick to being a cop.

Yeh, I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed.
If I were Fields, I would have spun the chair around, grabbed the back of it, and dragged it with her oppositional and defiant ass in it, out into the hallway. Cuffed her and arrested her for disorderly conduct. She hit him in the face.

I believe he is exactly doing that, sticking up for his fellow officers, or simply doing a PR job that is expected of him. So his comment is not to be taken seriously. As to the teacher(s), aren't the contractually bound and thus prevented from taking any physical action against a student?

Somehow I get the idea that you wish you were Fields but, if he had done what you suggest, the girl would have had no reason to "hit him." She only did that after Fields tipped her over backward.

He is awfully concerned with her ass, I notice. Like Fields, he'd be ready and willing to 'give some' to any girl that wants it.

When teachers step into a school environment it is like they are stepping into a mine field.

Each action in relation to students has to be carefully mentally processed. Facing the teacher is the contentious matrix of students, parents and the governmental admin.

Bob's suggestion has potential for serious injury to the student, especially if she becomes physically unruly while being lift.

I believe calling the law is right move if the teachers want to protect themselves. That the policeman lost his cool is unfortunate. Now his boss is into PR.

Actually that would have been reasonable, but then "Officer Slam" wouldn't have been afforded the opportunity to show off his weight lifting muscles.

The most reasonable thing would have been the teacher politely thanking the young lady when she did put her phone away, and go on teaching his class.
