Here is an example of a cop dealing with a conflicted teenager.

I saw that video earlier today.

The line in the article that caught my attention was (paraphrasing) " people are quick to pull out their phones to tape something bad with the cops but don't tape the good things".

That is so true about human nature.

They get paid don't they?

That's reward enough for being good.

Yes, you have a point..... But I suspect there are people who choose their professions for reasons other than the amount of money they make.

Which means that getting paid is not always the reward one seeks or that is enough for being good.

A few more details of this incident are available in this LA Times story:

Quote:
The South Carolina student thrown from her seat by a school police officer had obeyed orders to put her cellphone away, and the dispute arose because she did not put it away fast enough, her attorney said Thursday.

“She could have been left alone,” said Todd Rutherford, the attorney for the 16-year-old girl whom he identified by her first name, Shakara. “She wasn’t yelling. She wasn’t disrupting the class. She wasn’t a threat to anyone.”
The problem looks to have been a girl and a math teacher both determined not to take any shit from each other. I say a teenage girl with such attitude is one thing, and a adult professional is another.

"Officer Slam" is of course out of the school for good, and properly so.

Her attorney - prob. not the best source for a candid assessment.

Glad the officer has been removed from duty.

The story also quotes other sources. In any case, this sounds real, pending further information. You may assume she did more that 'fail to put the phone away fast enough,' if you wish. Pending further info, I will assume the teacher had a stick up his ass, chose to make a federal case out of a little passive aggression, and ordered her to report to the Assistant Principal's office or something.

I'll wait for the judge and jury, if it gets that far. District will prob. settle and include a non-disclosure clause, so the whole story will never get out.

It appears he has also lost his coaching gig, which is a good thing IMO. High School football players don't need a role model like this creep.

Fields became a coach in 2012, working with the defensive line, and added the strength coaching responsibilities a season later, the team’s website says. School district officials said at a press conference Tuesday that Fields is no longer coaching.
