Sounds like a great evening.

Basie was born in Red Bank, NJ but Kansas City's contribution to jazz is unquestionable. There's even a school of music called Kansas City Jazz.

This morning belongs to Smiley Lewis, a great Rhythm & Blues singer from 50's. Dubbed the unluckiest in R&B because other artists (Elvis Presley, Fats Domino) had big hits from covering his songs.

To me Smiley Lewis was the quintessential New Orleans singer from the 50's.

A great collection!

I have not listened to this LD in a very long time, years probably. Totally floored by the sound quality and imaging. JBL 250 Ti's with dual REL subs.

The new New Order album is playing yet again. With Gillian back in the band, there's more synth than the albums while she was gone.
