I believe this for a bunch of 2 lb hams, actually worked out to app $1.90 per pound. It wasn't just one 2 lb tin of ham.

And I don't think the government bought any 10K hammers either. When I was working at Bergstrom AFB, I saw a Sgt hanging a picture in an office building. According to him, he "was using one of those $500 hammers the Pentagon is always buying. And this is a $50 dollar nail." A jovial fellow, this Sgt was.

I sort of embellished on the hammers. If I recall they were 600 bucks or some stupid amount.

Can anyone explain this one to me ?

Looks like crooked politics as usual to me.

Always wondered about those expensive hammers, overpriced toilet seats, etc. Read once that this is just a way the Pentagon helps hide their Black Budget, but you still can't count corruption or stupidity out. It is the Government.

What a bunch of pikers, now if you want to see bribery on a grand scale look at the $300 million the helath care industry has generously given to members of Congress.
