That's exactly my point, namely that the GOP establishment is beholden to big business and the wealthy and has hoodwinked the Tea Party/Evangelicals into believing that they actually care about their agenda. They don't and never have. The economic interests of blue collar America are clearly better served by the Dems, but the GOP base is kept too stirred up by cultural/fringe issues to recognize it.

There's no question that if I were a small business owner, I'd be a Republican. OTOH, as an employee of any private firm or public sector agency, the Dem's would best represent my interests. I guess it depends where your bread is buttered.
