As to going out of one's way, that's a trick question, isn't it?

But if we're talking about few people who come here undocumented for the purpose of gaining citizenship for their children, the answer is easy. In those cases, citizenship is automatically conferred on the child. Not only is it automatic, but it's free. The process of naturalization takes time, effort and not a little bit of money.

By the way, native born Americans can have citizenship revoked too.
I was not talking about undocumented immigrants and am neutral on this subject. It is difficult to pass judgement on people that are gainfully employed in most cases and our economy needs them in our workforce.

On the rest our perceptions are different.
