California (or Atzlan) may indeed belong to Mexicans, or Mexican-Americans, but we do not mind.

I don't like him.

Sop to unions... Public unions in California earn way way way too much. They need a paycut and a benefits cut. That's never going top happen under Brown.

Retired fire chiefs and police chiefs should not be pulling in $250,000 per year in pension.

Add to this the removal of the car pool on the 110 and replacing it with a toll lane. Stupid. Traffic is backed up now whenever I go on it.

I can't actually think of anything good he's done. Sure there's got to be something...

I do agree with your key points regarding Police and Fire Chiefs and other high paid public service employees. Take a look at what the BART operators are paid for instance and their benefits. Originally BART was designed to run without train operators like the airport shuttle trains! Yet they have the audacity to strike every three years or so.

But even so he has done a good job of containing the drain on our economy and will probably outpoll any other current governor overnor in the US.

While this is not his fault... There are big companies moving out of State to avoid taxes (and for logistical reasons)... Toyota for instance.

At least we have the tech industries and Hollywood.. They're likely not going anywhere.

Jesus Christ!

My State of Florida Pension is 1/10 of that!

No wonder I can't afford to retire to California.

That figure is a true figure at least in some of the cities in LA.

I know this for a fact.

Past ex SF Police chief makes $277K in pension.
Past ex Oakland police chief, over $200K with 50% tax free since he qualified for medical retirement.

Before it gets too one sided. I'm not knocking firefighters. (Note, I'm not saying cops). They do a real dangerous job and i personally knew a couple who have since died of cancer very young.. early sixties and this is because of the toxic crap they've breathed in. I absolutely believe what ever is negotiated. Free health care for life for firefighters should not be negotiable. And sadly in many cases these big pensions don't get claimed for long. Not digging at these guys as if anyone deserves it, they do. But it's a whole host of government workers who never risked or suffered anything that pull in the big bucks. Politicians should be the first who get cut.

I have a really soft spot for fire eaters. Their job is really toxic.

Plus I knew a few who left us in 9/11.
