They don't for reasons like these:

The military, of course, does have "guns on base", lots of them. They're secured, as they damn well should be, in an armory. They also have military police who are armed, just as civilian police are armed.

TJ, your stiffy for Finn is affecting your reading comprehension. That isn't what he said.

I wasn't a contractor. I was a DAC, a Federal employee of the U.S. Army, managing the construction of facilities for the Army, Air Force, NATO, State, the NSA and others. I had several Army engineer officers working for me (and I did their OER's), as well as other Federal employees and local nationals.

And I was an E-5 Sergeant in the Marine Corps. How would I have felt walking around MCAS El Toro, MCAS Santa Ana LTA (later MCAS Tustin), or Camp Pendleton knowing everybody had a loaded sidearm on his hip? Decidedly fucking uncomfortable.

There's a number of people who don't know jack shit about the Marine Corps and who never spent a nanosecond on a Marine Corps Base or Air Station, spewing a whole lot of opinions on what base policies and procedures oughta be.

Base policy and procedure should be determined by what allows the overall mission of the facility to be maintained most effectively.

I assure anyone, guns everywhere is not likely to accomplish this.

In the end, I hope a better method - whatever it is - is implemented to provide better security so more members of the Armed Forces are not murdered on U.S. Military Bases or Recruiting Stations.

Just how is this any different then the church shooting? Or because it involved a Muslim and the Military rather then a white male racist and black church members, it is somehow different?

It is all about hate and the easy access to weapons by those who choose to carry out acts against others.

We have not figured out a 100% effective way to get our message out to counter the message of hate some choose to accept as the truth. Or a form of gun control and or access to acceptable to the gun lovers.

A good start IMO.

Now the gun grabbing Libtard governors and Obama need to follow suit so that all our military personnel are provided the means to defend themselves.

Quote:
The governors of Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Indiana on Saturday ordered National Guard members at offices and other facilities to be armed in the wake of attacks that left five servicemen dead in Tennessee.
Quote:
In Florida, Scott ordered six storefront Florida National Guard recruiting centers to be moved to the nearest Guard armory buildings.

The governor said Guard members who do not carry weapons should get them and obtain expedited concealed weapon permits, if necessary.

Possession of any firearm outside of licensed (with severe qualifying restrictions) long barreled single shot* hunting rifles and shotguns...get you, first offense 5 years, second offense 25 years, third offense life in prison. No appeals, no excuses, no bullshit. There's your better method.

Oh, Ike...that's never going to happen. OK fine...it's the America you want, it's the America you got. Like Dr. Hunter S. Thompson used to say, "You buy the ticket...you take the ride."

*No gas operated automatics, no lever action repeaters, no bolt action rifles with 5 shot magazines. No 5-10-20 shot magazines. Fire a round, break it down, load a round in the chamber, close it up, fire another round. Roof would have gotten off one round before he was beaten unconscious by church members with folding metal church meeting chairs...Abdulazeez would have gotten off one round before he was beaten to death by pissed off Marines with folding metal recruiting office meeting chairs.

Nah Ike...forget it. OK then...let's just STFU about it if we refuse to do what's necessary. It's our rights. It's our tradition of democratized gun carnage that we all (even the moronic gunner cons) say we hate. My ass.
