I saw them a couple of times back then, but Buddy Cage had taken over on pedal steel (also no slouch). Garcia only played on their first album AFAIK.

Afaik, Jerry played pedal steel on one of his solo albums, the one with "The Wheel".

He did indeed. "The Wheel" redeems an otherwise overly trippy side 2 of that album. Side 1 is uniformly excellent. It's a great album, as was Bob Weir's Ace made about the same time. I've had both as well as the above NRPS on vinyl since their release. Very good stuff.

I was looking at all the BPC and all of a sudden I see this wooden cased turntable with a Grado cart....there was a dude looking at a speaker selector switch next to me waiting to see if I would put it down. It was $39.99 and I got 10 percent off because of my military discount.
I usually never see anything decent at the Lake Elsinore GW since it is smack dab next to a Walmart.

NRPS plays the Mystic Theater here in Petaluma about once a year. One of these days I'll have to go.

There are a few turntables with that sort of setup. What you need to do is set that stylus pressure dial and the anti-skate dial to zero. Then balance the tonearm so that it floats horizontally. Once you've got that, turn the stylus pressure dial to the correct setting for your cartridge (1.5g) and set the anti-skate dial to the same number.

thanks!
It is also does this thing where the arm only goes back halfway when it auto returns...like it is doing a repeat on a seven-inch 45 instead of returning all the way to the cradle.
