It's possible to prove objectively and conclusively that someone is or isn't a liar. Whether or not someone is an ass is a matter of opinion.

It seems to me that whell and dj tend to start threads mainly to elicit a negative reaction. Could be boredom or low self esteem that compels this. Would be good to know but then we get suckered into their game.

Or, it could just be that I'm expressing an opinion about the negativity that many in this forum have about police. So negative, in fact, that when a post is made in the forum about cops getting shot in a routine traffic stop, we're six pages in with nary and expression of sympathy for the dead police officers. In fact, the post makes the predictable turn becoming about the poster rather than the linked article or the subject thereof.

I don't think I'm the one with issues....

I disagree regarding your motivations. Here from your Post #1:

Quote:
Cops have a bitch of a job. Not only do they have to face the prospect of getting shot when doing a routine part of their job, but then they get to listen to the media, and some wonderful folks like you, second guess them and call them every name in the book.

Hope this is a reminder of what some folks do to keep some of you safe so you can sit comfortably in your homes and hate them for it.
Operative words; 'some folks', 'hate them for it'. Who are the some folks? And who hates who again?

No one here that I know of hate cops but for some of the recent actions by a few rogue cops. In other words the responses have been to police brutality, and specifically brutality used primarily against black people.

This may be worth a read as this encapsulates our thoughts on this subject.

Quote:
Darrin Manning’s unprovoked “stop and frisk” encounter with the Philadelphia police left him hospitalized with a ruptured testicle. Neykeyia Parker was violently dragged out of her car and aggressively arrested in front of her young child for “trespassing” at her own apartment complex in Houston. A Georgia toddler was burned when police threw a flash grenade into his playpen during a raid, and the manager of a Chicago tanning salon was confronted by a raiding police officer bellowing that he would kill her and her family, captured on the salon’s surveillance. An elderly man in Ohio was left in need of facial reconstructive surgery after police entered his home without a warrant to sort out a dispute about a trailer.

These stories are a small selection of recent police brutality reports, as police misconduct has become a fixture of the news cycle

A well written article from July 2004 IMO and the points are well taken. It has only got a lot worse today.

You made it about you in the OP when you took this tragic event and used it as an excuse to attack those of us who see serious problems with police culture in the US.

"..... but then they get to listen to the media, and some wonderful folks like you, second guess them and call them every name in the book.

"Hope this is a reminder of what some folks do to keep some of you safe so you can sit comfortably in your homes and hate them for it."

See how that works?

The only significance these deaths hold for you is that they afford you with an excuse to spit bile at the rest of us.

Sure, I understand how it works. I also see that you were the first, and are the most frequent, poster in this thread. I didn't single out anyone in particular in my comments, but John "doth protest too much, methinks."

Are we talking about proportional fonts? Otherwise, I don't know what compression has to do with reading.

And I never said you did. In a way, it would have been better if you had, rather than launching into an attack against the plural "you" that you were targeting in the OP.

As I said before, the only reason you began this thread was so you could attack the people here on PC who object to the "army of occupation" tactics of US police and that's precisely what you did in the OP, nothing more and nothing less. If you had any integrity at all, you'd own it. But we all know you won't because you don't.
