If an officer can stop criminal behavior without an arrest? Using means similar to what our "heroic" mother has done? Potentially teaching a lesson prior to the formality of charges?

I'm not immediately perceiving a negative, unless you're willing to hold this kid's mother to the same standard of judgment (overbearing) due to her actions.

If cops doing such a thing is wrong, so is she.
We can all have opinions about it, but in the end, it's none of your fucking business how anybody parents their children...not until they start asking you for feedback, or until you start as a caseworker for Child Protective Services.

It's everybody's fucking business how the police behave. Or maybe you don't think the cops work for the rest of us, eh?

Of course he doesn't. He thinks the cops work for "the duly constituted governmental authority" and that the cops' job is to make the rest of us "comply" with the dictates of that authority..... or die.

It was heartbreaking for her to see some of the most dedicated, and appropriate mothers with sons who ended up gangbanging or otherwise in trouble with the law. They did everything they could to provide the opportunity for their son to take a positive direction, and it didn't happen.

Wouldn't have been there to begin with...my ass.
You think a lot of you limited experiences and less than insightful evaluations is my considered opinion.

You are clearly from the Sarah Palin camp of justifying failed parenting. I am not.

Two things,

1 I clearly took issue with what the mom did. The intent I respected.

2 I see no such intent from the police in general and as you point out, in being consistent, I see no good of a cop doing what the mom did either.

But that is besides the point. An actual policy of corporal education at the discretion of the police is a clear recipe for disaster. Will you debate this?

and yeah, maybe I am wrong but I see your views as being "pushed" into extreme but the "hostile crowd" here.

We'll have to wait and see if the kid dies from the injuries he sustained.

I think Ike was forced to eat Chicago deep dish pizza with a knife & fork growing up.
