I think the proliferation of video technology will help it come down.

Cops will be less likely to try to cover for their rogue buddies when they know it's all on video.

Pretty sure you're right but it's likely to get pretty ugly first. You're going to see a lot of departments engaged in "work to rules" actions and, worse, a lot of individual cops doing pretty grotesque things to the cops who "break the code" and departmental vendettas against citizens who observe and report police crimes.

Actually, the North Carleston Police can trace their roots back to the South Carolina "slave patrols" of the 18th and 19th century. They were formed out of white fear of slave rebellions, like the Stono Rebellion in 17th century South Carolina, and to catch runaways. Maintaining public order among "civilized folk" was decidedly secondary.

You are so full of shit. There is definitely a blue wall. I know many police and my nephew, who is a local deputy that I am pretty close to tells me the stories. He keeps track of who is owed what and knows when he can call in a favor. It goes with the territory.

I spent a few years of my youth on the street and have had my run-ins with the law. Many of your so called "criminals, offenders, thugs and miscreants" are fairly good people and would never have become that way but for a system that once entered, is very difficult for some to get out of.
