Guys, guys, don't you know that putting on a LEO uniform is like the Papacy you become infallible while wearing it.

If there's credible truth the coke was planted, someone should burn.

Recording cameras can only be good for everyone. Shutting one off before/during an encounter should be grounds for disiplinary action, no excuses.

Concur. Something that gets lost in all this is that 95+% of LEOs are good folk doing an extremely difficult job for the rest of us. I wish that there were better ways of weeding out those unqualified/unsuited to the profession. Body cams would go a long way toward that goal.

I wish i could have more confidence in that '95% are good' assumption. Rules like Pio suggests regarding body cams would help.

I fall back on my "1/3, 1/3, 1/3" idea: 1/3 are highly motivated and disciplined, 1/3 are just looking for a gig (that you can retire from in 20 years) and 1/3 are psychopaths.

Bagger Bob concurs. In fact, I think the vast majority of regular PC contributors do too. Why isn't there a federal requirement? Why isn't there a national movement? Why aren't Democrats demanding that their Congressional representatives and President do something? All these questions have but one answer.

I believe the overall percentage of exemplary officers in good and well funded departments is closer to 99.9%. (I've been state and fed backgrounded, UA'd, interviewed, polygraphed, etc. Crazies do NOT get through that process.)

The problem is when normal people are -- for whatever reason -- dropped into the social equivalent of war zones and held to the same standards of those in Mayberry RFD.

Sorry, that doesn't work.

Planting evidence? "Fuck you, that's evil, Officer Friendly should burn."

A traffic stop for cause that goes bad when all triangulation of circumstances, available information, location and citizen actions tells you this is dangerous and you could be killed?

That's on the actions of the citizen.

MAJOR DIFFERENCE.

Of course they do. All the time.
