WLS Chicago to drop Limbaugh?
WLS_AM Chicago...one of the oldest of Chicago radio giants appears to be ready to remove Limbaugh from it's afternoon schedule after many years in that slot. Robert Feder has been around the business in Chicago for a long, long time and typically does not release something like this without being fairly certain it's going to happen.

A Cumulus Media spokeswoman declined immediate comment. But a source familiar with the decision said it was based on the show’s diminished ratings and failure to generate advertising revenue for the station, adding: “It’s impossible to sell.”
|
After being advised that this was going up on Feder's blog on the Tribune Media Group, an unnamed Cumulus spokesperson denied Limbaugh was going. But that's not unusual when the plan is broken prior to an official announcement. It's taken a long time for many people to realize what a ridiculous shitheap this slot is...but better late than never. Which is not to say that some other Chicago station may pick it up...so we'll see.

He'll get a new station and a Chicago ratings bump for a while. Nothing like taking something away to make people want it....

He's the main long-term cash cow for one of our local media sewage sprayers.

The local DC station dropped Hannity last year, only to replace him with Michael Savage. Pick your poison.
If WLS drops Limbaugh, they'll find some other shit-spewer. That said, Limbaugh can't last forever and I'll be happy to see him go.

Hannity is a shill, Savage is an ass clown trainwreck. He'll be good for ratings for a while until his schtick gets stale.

Actually you're wrong. They've already hired former screwball rock and roller Jonathon Brandmeier to take over mornings and talk is that another late morning hour will be added to his slot to cover the first hour of the shit-spewer's slot. Brandmeier still plays the local live music circuit with his band, Johnny and the Leisure Suits. He will be syndicated around the country on Westwood One, and will replace asswipe Dennis Miller (who thinks he's way funnier than he is) on all the major Westwood One outlets. Brandmeier's show will probably not be politically oriented, but personally he's generally a supporter of Democrat Party positions and liberal causes. And long time Chicago former shock jock Steve Dahl has been doing early afternoons for a couple of months now. The morning drive was a local right-wingjob political consultant idiot named Dan Proft and his sidekick right-wingjob funnyman sports guy Bruce Wolf, who also thinks he's funnier than he actually is. They're both gone in favor of a more moderately conservative country music jock and talk guy from over at WIND. So it appears that WLS has made a considerable move away from headcase conservative personalities and is going back to some long-time Chicago favorite super-jocks and more entertainment oriented programming. We're still stuck with Savage as Hannity's replacement in the evening, but there's change afoot at WLS...and a lot of it is for the better. What we don't need is for the right-wing bullshit talk nonsense to be replaced with a bunch of left-wing bullshit talk nonsense, which is really just the other side of the right-wingjob talk nonsense coin anyway.

Not a lot of left talk these days, I'd be fine with progressives. Otoh, I couldn't stomach Mike Malloy even when I agreed with him.

I'm gonna say if I actually learn anything more from left-wing radio/TV than I do from right-wing radio/TV, it ain't much more. Every now and then Maddow or O'Donnell presents something really good, but it's not worth slogging through Al Sharpton or Chris Matthews to get to it.
I will give O'Donnell credit though when he came on and let Hillary know that she doesn't "...get to choose what's convenient." You won't see anybody on FOX take a hard line like that with any occupants of the Klown Kar.

Why does either side need to spoon feed the public? I suppose given the educational system a lot of folk need their news pre-digested.
