Ferguson's Conspiracy Against Black Citizens

Pretty bad stuff here. I wonder how many others Police Departments are like this? I suspect quite a few.

This week, the Department of Justice concluded that there is no evidence to disprove Officer Wilson's claim that he feared for his life during the encounter. And the federal agency also presented context that explains why so many black residents assumed foul play and took to the streets in protest: For years, Ferguson's police force has meted out brutality, violated civil rights, and helped Ferguson officials to leech off the black community as shamelessly as would mafia bosses.

So far, a disproportionate amount of press attention has focused on racist emails circulated by Ferguson officials, causing two to be fired and one to be placed on leave. While the correspondence in question is deeply offensive and worthy of condemnation, it is nowhere close to the most objectionable transgression documented in the DOJ report, which ought to prompt multiple Ferguson officials to resign in disgrace and provoke condemnations from across the political spectrum. Nearly every page shocks the conscience.

Tom, it is not a conspiracy. It is the KKK running the police department, and having a complicit and fun loving city government backing it to the hilt.

All the folks you think would know better just went along with the "blacks are thugs" party line and kept their blinders on. None of them will bother to read this info and rethink their positions, either.

Some racist jokes don't turn a police department into the KKK. Yes the people who made them should be fired. But they trawled through about 6 years of emails and dug up a half dozen shitty emails.

I don't think the guy in Ferguson did anything that was "wrong" outside of course the environment he was operating in (Why do we arm cops?) The video of the Brown earlier assaulting the store clerk shows what frame of mind he was in and I believe thhe cop in this particular instance.

Is there racism? yes. POS like the cops in NYC who let that guy die for selling cigarettes or that disgusting excuse for a human being... Zimmerman. These people should all be brought up on murder charges (especially Zimmerman). I just don't think every death equals a racist thug behind it, even though some definitely are (Zimmerman) and some are brought about because some of these assholes just don't care about human life period (NYC).

Turning everything into a race conversation is unhelpful IMO.

Two of the three managers fired were police managers, Matteos. The other was the city clerk. The number three and number four dudes in the police department, and the court clerk. The people they were sending the emails to were police officers. Over 5,000 emails within the police department were of the objectionable to extremely offensive category. You got to see five to ten of them, depending which story you read. Three officers have been identified as either active or shadow KKK members, and other officers that have come in to FPD from other departments, including their chief, have a history of notably poor relations, arrests, and actions against minorities.

If you actually spent twenty minutes reading the varied accounts, you would have no doubt in your mind that bigotry and racism are rampant in Ferguson, and infest their PD, court system, and government.

And that is just the beginning of the steaming cesspool, because it has been going on for twenty years. And Ferguson is not the only municipality that is completely FUBAR.

I never once argued against the existence of racism in the Ferguson PD. I argued that, given the evidence that was made public, the shooting didn't appear to be a "murder" or an "execution" and that I was willing to wait for the DOJ's findings. Also, I warned on multiple occasions against conflating one with the other (whether or not racism exists in the PD proves nothing about Wilson's guilt or innocence).

On the issue of the shooting, I'd say the DOJ's findings coincide with my POV, not yours.
