It looks like the UAE is back in the game.

I sure hope so.
That is a reasonable response by the Jordanians, and a justified hope.

Don't be stupid, Rob.

John
Re read what I wrote and then tell me who is being stupidly obtuse. The mass destruction I mentioned was all done by us. Yes we killed one hell of a lot of otherwise innocent people or at the very least they were non combatants who perished. Having two brothers and a brother-in-law in the service I was only grateful they survived.

Do I delight in killing, you don't know me if you believe that. Do I like war? No dammit I have seen too many and lost too many friends. Would I like to see a Caliphate established - Hell no, as Rajoo pointed out Islam and Democracy are incompatible.

I guess we define human differently, the mere possession of two legs, two arms and walking upright is not quite enough, as far as I am concerned a soul and a conscience are requisites.

BTW DQ I can't run anything by my priest as I don't have one.

It has to do with your belief that a city should be burned, on grounds that they are less human than we are. The point is that humans everywhere are capable of extreme cruelty towards enemies they think deserve it. If that makes a group 'inhuman,' there are no humans on the planet.

Boy you guys sure as hell read a lot more into my posts that I wrote there. Listening to a Afghanistan vet he probably nailed it. He said sure I hated the Taliban, if you don't hate your enemy you are as good as dead.

Most of the stuff we did during WW II was necessary, Dresden was criminal and a payback for Coventry. As it turned out after the war Coventry was just an incompetent navigator.

Tell me John, DQ and Tom could you look down the barrel of a rifle at an enemy combatant and with love and goodwill in your heart pull the trigger? I sure as hell could not as I am not that screwed up.

I never said I wouldn't be a son of a bitch. I'm just acknowledging that all of us have the capacity to be barbaric and that we have as a nation committed many acts just as barbaric.

Now that they've killed a young American woman I'm ready to go Medieval on their asses and rain death and destruction on them in Biblical proportions. But let's not pretend that we have the moral high ground, because there ain't no moral high ground to any of this.

By the way, If I'm going to be a barbarian, I'm going to be an equal opportunity barbarian. So while we're over there lets throw Israel in the mix for what they did to Rachel Corrie.

You hate ISIL because they ignore the rules. Then you scoff at the idea of rules. Does not compute.

We agree that punishment for those who have done evil things is in order. I completely disagree with assigning collective guilt however. That is a rationalization for following the promptings of anger and hate.

You've made comments before endorsing burning. Glad to see you've reflected a little on that one at least. You still want to blow up a whole town, I gather, if not half of a couple of countries....

I take you you feel I'm out of line? I wonder, sir, if you would please be more specific as to what you disapprove of?
