In yet another case of St. Louis police entitlement, they attempt to railroad a black man and father, depriving him of his constitutional rights....

Here's the background - Anderson has a medium criminal prior where he was tried and convicted, and then sentenced to prison for a twelve year term. He was sent home and told he would get the sentencing letter, with a report to prison date.
He never was sent the letter. Indeed, the city never even generated the letter.
Anderson got married. He started a carpentry business, and became relatively successful, working hard and keeping his conduct totally on the straight and narrow, attending church, raising his family, and not even getting a speeding ticket.
He finally queried the court at the end of what would have been the last year of his sentence, and all hell broke loose. He was arrested and sent to jail.
In the meantime, his extended family worked night and day, talking to politicians the parole board, the prison system, the judicial powers that be, and the prosecutor's and public defender's offices. Every last one of them wanted him to be freed, except for one prosecutor , AND the city POLICE DEPARTMENT was adamant that he serve his entire term.
Fortunately the presiding judge got everyone together and pointed out, in this case, that a loving family, a thriving business, and with scores of people from his community attesting, that rehabilitation had occurred and that his debt to society had been paid, with little expense to society. His wife testified that love and family were the principal tools that caused the change in Anderson. His victims meet him, he asks them for forgiveness, and they forgive him, and acknowledge that they see him as rehabbed, and do not want him to serve any time.
A year later...Now we have a purse snatching at a White Castles three blocks from the Cardinals stadium downtown. Witnesses provide a script of the suspect - a black man wearing a hoodie and sneakers, fleeing south toward Soulard. Half an hour later, the police come across Anderson, heading north from Soulard to pick up his car parked downtown, wearing a leather jacket and boots. It is payback time(they alll know this jackass who didn't serve his time!)
They take him to the White Castle and query the witnesses, prejudicing them against Anderson.
They then present the witnesses with a police lineup the next day, making sure none of the other likelys looks remotely close to Anderson.
They don't bother to gather the surveillance camera films from any of the route, nor the burger joint and bar where Anderson claimed he was attending a family party.
The police do not attempt to validate a single point of Anderson's alibi.
Anderson is selected in the police lineup by the prejudiced witnesses, is charged, and back to the slammer. Justice served, eh!
But his lawyers from the previous kerflaw do some legwork review and pull the tapes, get the facebook photos from the party at the Social House, get all the bartender testimony, get the White Castle testimony from other folks not previously interviewed, and manage to clear Anderson.
City DA personally apologizes face to face with Anderson, PD refuses to apologize for their bungled attempt to frame him.
His daughter says....BAD SHOT!
Just another typical police day in St. Louis, and yet another case of police payback entitlement.
