I did more than my share working for years at non-profits, for peanuts, helping single minority mom's get back on their feet and off public assistance. If you're at all interested the program is called Family Self-Sufficiency. I'm sure you'll find some suitably snarky finnism to come back with.
BTW-reckon why you'd choose to spend so much time in Israel when Jews are so lacking in friendliness and cordiality compared with Muslims?

Experiencing the sights, the cuisine, the culture and the people are why I travel anywhere. It's part of the package. I take no joy in saying that Israelis are generally the least hospitable, friendly, or polite people in over 60 countries that I've visited. Hell, Israelis themselves jokingly say that arguing is their national sport. It was much less so when I spent 3 weeks there in the mid 80's (if at all). It's immediately (and unfortunately) noticeable now though.
In spite my views on Israeli hospitality, I never hesitate to recommend that friends and family visit there. Just be prepared for less than gracious treatment by the locals. New Yorkers and Parisians also have less than stellar reputations when it comes to friendliness and hospitality. That doesn't stop me for a minute from going to and enjoying either city.
An aside - I lived and traveled extensively out of DC for 25 years of my career and have said on many occasions that people everywhere else in the USA are friendlier than they are in my hometown (with the possible exception of NYC and its suburbs). I still like DC and NYC though.

Despite my views on Israeli hospitality, I never hesitate to friends and family that they visit there. Just be prepared for less than gracious treatment by the locals. I suppose you realize that New Yorkers and Parisians have less than stellar reputations when it comes to friendliness and hospitality too. That doesn't stop me for a minute from going to either city.

What a nice post finn. Now we can be friends again...because finn, if I thought we weren't friends, I just don't think I could bear it.
Meantime...I'll watch out for those ungracious Jews...although I'm sure it doesn't matter if I run into them in Tel Aviv or Brooklyn. Between you and me, I don't notice much difference between people from NY and people from New Jersey (or Philly), or people from Paris and people from Nice. So maybe we oughta assume, from your personal expertise that it's just the French and the urban easterners and the Jews, etc. Too bad for the rest of us if it's a NY-Jew though. Now there's a bad combination, eh finn?
Last night I saw Lester Maddox on a TV show
With some smart-ass New York Jew
The Jew laughed at Lester Maddox
The audience laughed at Lester Maddox too.

I didn't say anything about Jews. I said Israelis. Why don't you fly over to Israel this year and spend 3-4 weeks there and get back with me when you return. I find it somewhat disconcerting when a restaurant waiter or a hotel clerk argues with you about your choice of meal or room. You may find it charming.
Commenting on the relative hospitality of a country and its people says nothing about other aspects of the country. Turkey's people are incredibly gracious, yet Erdogan is a prick. Several friends have been to Iran and were surprised about the hospitality and friendliness there, despite how fucked up their government is. People in rural parts of the Deep South are among the friendliest anywhere in this country. That doesn't make me want to live there though.

Blah...blah...I met a nice Jew once. He was an adoptee like me, only sort of a reverse Ike, but from the next generation. He was a mixed race Jew kid...mom was one of those hippie Jew chicks who had shacked up with a young black man from the west side of Chicago during the revolution days and ended up pregs. She put him up and he was adopted shortly after his birth by Methodists. What a nice fella...and thank the king of the Jews that circumstance had removed him from an environment that would have turned him into just another ungracious Jew schmuck.
BTW - Hey finn, y'know what the difference is between Disney World and Disneyland Paris? At Disneyland Paris all 7 Dwarfs are named "Grumpy."
By the way, nice cherrypicking of my post. You challenge my impressions of what's owed by white people by suggesting I haven't personally done a goddamn thing to improve anything about it. And when I show you that you're an ignoramus who doesn't know jack shit about what I've accomplished in my professional life...you're the mayor of dodge city. Time to invest in the integrity transplant finn.

You're the one who brought up my previous impressions of Israeli hospitality, not me. And the essence of my post on white guilt is that you're welcome to it. In fact, you're welcome to have a double dose of it to make up for my lack of it. Guilt-tripping ain't my bag, man.

OK...fine with me. Like I expected anything else. I can only hope you're enjoying yourself on the forum on this sunny Thursday morning as much as I am. Although you gotta admit, you thought you could shame me by suggesting that my point on what's owed was all lip service and involved no personal effort or even a little sacrifice. And when I showed you how wrong you can be, it's finn changing the context, yet again. OK...OK...it's not what you really meant...yeh, sure.
BTW - I find your choice of descriptors as uniquely self-serving. When you're talking about conflict in the middle east it's the Palestinians and the Jews. But when you're called out about your attitudes and maybe not looking so good, suddenly you're all upset and insisting you're talking about Israelis, not Jews. OK...got it.

And the irony is pretty thick when he thinks he has the standing/demeanor to criticize the comportment of others on this forum.
Methinks his personality would be ideally suited to the Israeli hospitality industry.
