Calling anyone affiliated with ISIL people blows my mind. I really don't hate them but you seem to have concluded that anyone who sees vermin as vermin must be wrong. Oh they may walk on their hind legs and yell Allah Akbar while raping a girl child but they certainly can only qualify as a clinical definition of people, certainly not a humanitarian definition. But if that is how you wish to regard them that is entirely your prerogative. I must confess that I am having difficulty of late in understanding how your mind works.

However if my house were to be infested with termites and I call in an exterminator that does not mean that I hate termites but I will defend our home.

Some people want to be perceived as saints. So be it, that's your world you have created in your own minds and does not resemble reality. I am a realist.

Separating people from their religion is utter nonsense.

I mean, I didn't call you a terrorist before, my phrase was 'closer to Isis-think than you should wish.' So you were just said to be some undefined amount too close. I'm not sure how much more delicately I could put it, and still make the point at all.
OK fine, thank-you. But I must say, I find it a tad implausible that you can display such an obviously high level of intelligence and seem to be so baffled by a simple request that you quit acting like my angry parent. You're not responsible for my goddamn feelings, you're responsible for your interpersonal skills.

Just argue your points and leave what you think of me personally out of it. (What that I could practice what I preach with whelly, eh?)

Apparently rob, identifying vermin as vermin, even though they may be (and I'm using the term exceedingly loosely) human beings, is gonna upset some hereabouts. But it's a good term I hadn't thought of. ISIL are vermin. The Tsarnaev brothers are vermin. The Kouachi brothers and Amedi Coulibaly are vermin, and I'm gonna take a leap and suggest that Coulibaly's French girlfriend is vermin as well. The 9/11 conspirators were all vermin. Osama Bin Laden is now room temperature vermin (OK ocean bottom temperature vermin, but you know what I mean). And I don't know what is to be done with vermin outside of ummmm (it's such an ugly word)...extermination.

And...I consider Hamas to be vermin as well even though it appears that some hereabouts seem to see those guys as freedom fighters???????

Did I say anybody here referred to Israeli Jews as nazis? I don't think I did...although I suspect there are more than a couple that are thinking it.
I take it that by propaganda you mean "lies". What did I say that is untrue?

As for the "Nazi" reference, it was you who brought it up and objected to it. If you're going to throw such inflammatory rhetoric around, at least try to make sure that it's relevant to the current conversation.

OK...let's make a cultural comparison then, because in my mind that's what is at the bottom of all this. What percentage of Americans would you suspect saw Timmy McVeigh as a martyr for his cause? I'm gonna say a tenth of 1%. And I'm probably way, way high.

When they do "man on the street" interviews with the common folk of Gaza city...you know what we hear. The Jews should driven into the sea. Well...if 90% is too high...14% is remarkably too low an estimate.

I was listening to NPR today after this thing was over. They were interviewing some Muslim leader guy I don't have his name or his organization's name (I was driving down I80-94 on snowpack surrounded by speeding 18 wheelers and was not even comfortable reaching for the smartphone to record the guy's name). Anyway...he was the leader of some Paris based Muslim organization and the comment he most needed to express was that he is hoping there is no retaliation or reprisals against the Muslim community in France. Well sure everybody hopes that except for the nazis...but it seems to me, one way that might mitigate such reactions would be a clear and powerful expression of your dismay at the inhumanity of, and your disgust for, the Charlie Hedbo and Kosher Deli terrorists.

One of my heros from the Boston incident in the Spring of 2013 was Ruslan Tsarni, the uncle of the Tsarnaev brothers. This guy...obviously infuriated and distressed was interviewed on TV while the younger brother was still at large. He said that his nephews were a disgrace and "brought shame to this family and to the entire Chechen community." And that his nephew should surrender immediately and beg for forgiveness from the families of victims and from the injured who survived.

Seems to me the more we hear this sort of thing from Muslim leaders, the less they will have to worry about reprisals. Other than being concerned that they might be targeted by their own people, I don't understand why it's so difficult. But even if you're afraid...too goddamn bad. You want to be a leader? Act like a fucking leader.

Here are some termites. Termites are a species of vermin.

Here are some human beings:

I see very marked distinctions. That's how my mind works.

I have noticed that minds in the grip of hate:

1. Always think their opinions are perfectly reasonable.
2. Can't imagine why anyone finds anything wrong when they offer thin rationalizations for 'killing them all.'
3. Generally, get around to thinking anyone who criticizes is in league with 'the enemy.'

Honestly, has item 3. crossed your mind as yet?

I believe the actions of some people disqualify them from identification as human beings. But I also believe that human beings can be vermin. Actually when I think about how human beings are trashing this planet...it's pretty arguable that beyond the entire human species actually qualifies as vermin. I'm not proud of it, but as a human being who isn't trying anywhere near hard enough to not be an active participating member of a worldwide fucking plague of goddamn locusts, I qualify as vermin as well.

So it seems to me that members of my species who are murderous cocksuckers on top of that are significantly worse vermin than me. You can call it hate...I call it intuitively obvious to any casual observer. And...what a cute family. Any of them who see the Kouachi brothers as holy martyrs for the cause are most definitely vermin as well.

I never meant 14% seriously. My point was only that it was just as good a guess as 90%, which was no good at all.

You are rationalizing condemning Muslims en masse. Even if 90% of them have opinions you do not like, well, here's the deal. They don't get to tell you what to think, and you don't get to tell them what to think.
