Here's something funny:

The Ferguson police are so clueless, one of them actually told a reporter that an impromptu memorial to Mike Brown was 'a pile of trash.'

But that's not the funny part. The funny part is that this bit of on-the-record boot-in-mouth was committed by, presumably, one of Ferguson's savviest, the officer assigned as the department's PR spokesman!

He then cleverly lied to his superiors about doing it. THAT has gotten him suspended without pay.... Oy!

A certain type of person is actively recruited by law enforcement. As it is with the US military. And that sort of person is susceptible to fits of anger when their directives...no matter how ridiculous...are not met with immediate and appropriately humble enough compliance. America wants pissed off cops. Just ask a significant percentage of wives of pissed off cops how bad it can get, if they're not too terrified to talk about it. Statistics show that 1 in 4 women in the US has been a victim of an incident of domestic violence. That becomes 1 in 2 if they are married to a cop. This doesn't happen by accident.

I remember qualifying day at Pendleton back in 1969. They took the 8 of us, who put all 10 rounds in the silhouette from 500 yards, down to a little building on the end of the firing line and attempted to get us to agree to apply for sniper school. What was their primary means of...uh...encouragement? Showing us dozens of grizzly photos of NVA and Cong sniper casualties. Predominantly from long range where the wobbling round really did some catastrophic damage.

Did they want volunteers for sniper school who were patriotic Americans who were willing to put their lives on the line to defend their country? Fuck no. They wanted sociopaths who got off on the carnage. They wanted sick motherfuckers who would enjoy doing this to another human being.

Big surprise that somebody gets the life choked out of them if they don't jump fast enough when Danny Pantaleo says "jump." Big surprise if they continue to stomp you when you're already down like Koon, Powell, Briseno and Wind. You go for the wrong kind of person, you end up with some people like this.
