If one compares our reaction to the Great Recession with that of the EU (with Germany in the driver's seat), we've done a far better job of getting out of it (with no thanks to the GOP, both in terms of policy or cooperation).

You're a vanishingly rare bird Finn. An Eisenhower Republican technocrat.
No offense intended.

None taken. I take that as the highest of compliments. As I think you know already, Ike and my dad were friends (along with Omar Bradley). Here's something he picked up from me after visiting with Ike back in the mid '60's.

It couldn't be any other reason?

For you Don? I blame Putin

Regulatory and tax quantities and structures etc. If QE was the only issue Japan would be booming.

I think it was about 7th grade when my dad brought that signed picture home from work with him (he was Chief Counsel at Walter Reed at the time). I lost track of it until about 20 years ago when I found it stuffed in between the pages of my high school yearbook when packing up stuff to move to our current house (~30 years after I got the picture).

A funny coincidence occurred just a couple of days after finding Ike's picture. On a business trip to Tulsa, I hopped into the hotel limo to go back to the airport and damned if David Eisenhower wasn't in the limo too. I told him about how I just found an autographed picture of this grandfather just a couple of days earlier and how my dad and his grandfather had been friends.

Man, that's awesome! I've always said he was the last good Republican president. Well, not "always", I had fallen into the Reagan Kool-Aid for a while............
