bob, he wasn't accepted to attend the police academy. As competitive as things are to hit a Tier One city in the police and firefighter forces, you almost must have the academy training.

Wilson was trained in the Jennings department. When they disbanded and went to County services, he jumped to the Pine Lawn force, where he either quit or was dismissed after one day. He then went to Ferguson.

Thnx for that, never made clear to me and tho pertinent doesn't explain his behavior at the store unless exceptionally atypical for him. That is pertinent.

People of good will can differ on what's abundantly clear here.

Why do you want this to be true, so much that you keep insulting people because they won't shut up about it?

Now that's interesting.

I presumed P.O.S.T training would be 100% mandatory by ~3 years of service even if not upon initial hire.

I presumed P.O.S.T training as the foundation for Wilson's training. If it is NOT P.O.S.T training then I do not possess the same educational background as Wilson...

I've said many times back when this whole brouhaha started that I simply don't care what happened half a nation away between a young thug and a cop. It happens almost daily in DC and Baltimore, is a local issue, and adjudication should proceed on its own merits, not under threat of mob violence.

However, when the national racial grievance industry, the media, and those they could convince to be aggrieved chose to make Brown the poster child for police abuse across the nation (facts be damned), I found it misguided and likely counterproductive. I said I would gladly wait for the grand jury to report and did. I accepted their findings and have been called a racist, bigot and a KKK sympathizer for it.

Honestly, I'm sick of the whole sordid affair.

As am I.

This should have never gone to a Grand Jury.

I believe you're sick of it, no question.

You've been labeled not for 'accepting their findings,' but for the characterizations you've volunteered of Michael Brown, the black community, and what you characterize as the 'racial grievance industry.'

Zeke, Wilson got his POST training through Jennings, not through the Academy. And it turns out that he and all his fellow officers were fired by the Jennings council, for many of the similar offenses that have been occurring next door in Ferguson. He hired on in Ferguson, rather than attempting to get back on at Jennings.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/nation...390_story.html

Here are a couple of Jennings' more famous escapades...

Racial tension was endemic in Jennings, said Rodney Epps, an African American city council member. “You’re dealing with white cops, and they don’t know how to address black people,” Epps said. “The straw that broke the camel’s back, an officer shot at a female. She was stopped for a traffic violation. She had a child in the back [of the] car and was probably worried about getting locked up. And this officer chased her down Highway 70, past city limits, and took a shot at her. Just ridiculous.”

Police faced a series of lawsuits for using unnecessary force, Stichnote said. One black resident, Cassandra Fuller, sued the department claiming a white Jennings police officer beat her in June 2009 on her own porch after she made a joke. A car had smashed into her van, which was parked in front of her home, and she called police. The responding officer asked her to move the van. “It don’t run. You can take it home with you if you want,” she answered. She said the officer became enraged, threw her off the porch, knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the stomach.

The department paid Fuller a confidential sum to settle the case, she said.

“It’s like a horror story in my mind. I never thought a police officer would pull me off my porch and beat me to the ground, for just laughing,” Fuller said in an interview.

The Jennings department also had a corruption problem. A joint federal and local investigation discovered that a lieutenant had been accepting federal funds for drunken-driving checks that never happened.

Well guys that's just too damned bad because this is not going away.

Ferguson is a seminal moment in the history of this country.

When all is said and done, this is going to be bigger than 9/11.

If the facts are so one sided, then the politicians would not be racing madly the other way. It would still be business as usual.

Instead, we are seeing some court reforms. Most of the north county debtors' prison terms have been abolished. Most of the municipalities are considering putting a cap on what percent of their city budget can be generated by police tickets. Most courts have started drastically reducing their bench warrant fines to an affordable $5 or $10, from $100 and more. Many of the courts are considering blocking lawyers from serving as an advocate in one municipality, and a judge in another.

The home fires are burning furiously over citizen review boards, with Roorda and his ilk adamantly refusing to accept any oversight whatsoever. All we need is a few more GOOD SHOT cases, and it will be a done deal.

Ferguson is actually talking about having a voter registration drive, where the registrants will have an three day arrest amnesty, so they can register and then not immediately get arrested. And the pressure to dynamite Jackson out of his police chief position is growing exponentially. Things are interesting here.
