Wilson might disagree with you.

Well at least McCulloch acknowledged that Wilson chased Brown down.
And he described the streets, so my measured distance was correct. Wilson did NOT stay by his car, and he DID pursue over 100 feet.
It boggles my mind to understand how someone can fear for their life and give chase, vs waiting for backup.
It is now open season for anyone who gets scared by blacks.

It seems to me that a grand jury that heard more than 70 hours of testimony from 60 witnesses, including three medical examiners, and considered charges ranging from first degree murder to involuntary manslaughter disagrees with you and they're the only ones who saw all the evidence and are the only ones whose opinions count.

Will he ever feel safe in his world again?
Will they put him in some kind of witness protection program?

If he doesn't, it's a sad commentary on our justice system that a man whose case has been duly adjudicated has anything to fear from those with no clue as to what occurred on the street in Ferguson that night.

That's your opinion.
I don't share it.
Nor do I think millions of black people.

Why do you say it that way? The justice system has functioned well, you seem to think. It is society that is messed up. It is people of no role or status who do not do rightly, not the system, according to you.
There are classical answers to the problem you identify.

While I agree with your statement 100%, I think it is a sad commentary on our justice system that a grand jury will never return with an indictment on a case that the prosecution doesn't want to prosecute. If the state can pick up a case for an individual that chooses to either not press charges or drop them later, then there should be a reciprocal in place, even if it is just a citizen panel that makes sure that the grand jury is privy to all evidence, and in context. As it is, I am OK with the decision because it is the way our system works.

I'm just not OK with railroading a guy if the evidence doesn't support it out of fear of mob action or to address broader grievances in the African-American community. I would also have had nothing against the grand jury indicting Wilson if they saw fit to do so. They didn't - End of story (for the Wilson case, though not for broader black grievances that do indeed to be addressed).

I was reacting to TJ's notion that Wilson may never feel safe. It's perfectly fine for the black community to disagree with what occurred, but not to act it out upon or threaten Wilson.
