Perhaps, but that is how it works.
Do you know why red cars are the most cited in the United States?
Because some loon in L.A. says "we're only stopping red cars at this checkpoint, today."
There's nothing special about red cars, folks of every race, income, religion, etc. drive them.
It's not the officer's fault that Ferraris are typically red and/or typically go fast...

It's nice that those horrible pics are in the past, isn't it?
The court always expands the power of government, in this case police, over time. How is being 'stopped' NOT being 'detained'?
There's a lot of YT vids about folks arguing at citizen check points (if DUI checkpoints are OK why not citizen?) - 'Am I being detained?' 'Am I free to go?' -cracks me up I've seen at least one guy do that at a DUI checkpoint too (on YT).

My last babbling about this thing...it isn't about justice for a number of reasons.
It's not about determining the truth and providing justice for the victims or the families of the victims and justice for the perpetrators. These are not the goals. There is only one goal...for the attorney to win. The attorney who wins, and wins regularly ends up rich. If it's a prosecutor who wins regularly he/she becomes Asst. State's Attorney, or States Attorney or US Attorney, district court judge, appeals court judge, state supreme court justice, federal judge, SCOTUS justice. It's all about career and money. If you're charged with a crime and don't have money or you're in a civil legal battle and don't have money, you get shit representation and shit justice if you get any justice at all.
The deck is stacked in criminal cases. Cops and prosecutors can lie their asses off to you and there's nothing you can do about it. And bad things happen...just ask Marty Tankleff. But you better not lie to the cops or prosecutors...you'll be convicted of lying even though they can't make a case that you actually broke any of the laws they originally charged you with...just ask Martha Stewart. What do they call it..."obstruction of justice", eh?
Now there's a sick fucking joke to accuse anybody but the lawyers and judges of obstructing justice in this so-called system of justice.

What we have is a legal system which under ideal and not so ideal circumstances dispenses what justice the laws permit and the established hierarchy allows. It's so unfair!

As a young student and co-worker told me back in 1970, "you don't get punished for committing a crime, you get punished for being dumb enough to get caught."

How dare you question the police, Ike. If McCready knew the case would turn like this, he should have just got in a fight with Marty and shot him dead. Use the defense that they were struggling over his gun. Yea, yea, that's the ticket. Money for nothing, and your XXXX for free.

Tradition has it that the legal profession is to be well remunerated.

Lawyers are like plumbers. Everyone thinks you're an overpaid lowlife until they need your services. At least when a lawyer does his job, the client is happy to shake their hand.

The insurance companies are telling businesses if they don't board up windows now before the riots, then they will not cover damages.

Step One for, "oh, this will be fun" is whether a guy asks if he's been detained. Don't answer and let him start his car and/or put it in gear...

I'm guessing the Illinois State Trooper in the video is your brother-in-law.
So when the gestapo walks up to you and puts the arm on you for your "paperz", you should just say...oh well fuck me and my Constitutional right not to be harassed and/or detained without probable cause. No thanks.
Like the few attorneys in this country who actually have some interest in Americans not being fucked in the ass by the cops and prosecutors will advise...ask questions about what they want from you but don't agree to anything and don't tell them anything. Because the cops and prosecutors will joyfully take anything you say and if there's any way possible, will use it to fuck you in the ass, all the while saying to themselves, "oh, this will be fun".
Just ask Marty Tankleff.
