He'd have been kept in check by the Iranians. Now, Iraq (from Baghdad south, anyway) has been essentially handed over to Iran and the north belongs to ISIS commanded by de-Baathified officers. What about everything else that happened over there? ISIL (to back up the CinC) was allowed to grow by Obama in direct conflict with his own experts (including Hillary, your presumptive next candidate)(the result of doing nothing btw). And the whole red line thing. How much of a lame duck is Obama worldwide, and how much damage is and will be done?

ISIS is a Sunni group, so the less than moderate Sunni's might certainly be pre-disposed to welcoming them. Those that haven't welcomed them so far have ended up dead, so maybe that also explains why some have "welcomed" them. I also wonder if ISIS goes unchecked, how long it will be before they start messing with Iran. And, I suspect the Turks and the Kurds don't fancy the idea of having these characters in their backyard.
