30% of the electorate turn out and slightly more than half vote your way and you see a "mandate" of the people's will in that? A sixth of the electorate represents the "will of the people"?

That's the mistake both GWB and BHO have made, as well as their associated parties. They think they have a "mandate" from the people and end up making asses of themselves.
