I get your point, and it is wholly valid, but it's a separate concern.
Regardless of what a Grand Jury determines, it is now politically impossible to disavow leadership scrutiny within the department...

BS. It is a necessity like peeling off a rotted onion.

As I said, it is politically impossible to disavow a desire for scrutiny.
That doesn't mean there's anything wrong beyond a public relations event that went way outside of what their playbook was capable of.
A lot, administratively, will come off their plate the second Wilson is cleared by the Grand Jury. Of course, they'll have other things to deal with at that point.
I would have already put out calls to the National Guard...

So who is the apologist here?
Try using stronger more definitive words. It may relieve you of your apparent mental congestion.

Zeke, when you have the majority of the mainstream black church congregations of Ferguson, BelNor, Normandy, Florissant, wellston and other municipalities protesting against the actions of your police department during the day, you have lost the ability to effectively police. It is not a political necessity, it is an operational mandate to transfer policing power to a force the community actively trusts.
A bunker mentality will not help anyone.

The system stayed on his ass until they got him anyway.
He's rotting in prison now.
He'll probably die there.
So how much better off is he than if he had been found guilty in the first place?
Not much.

Oh fer christ's sake TJ...don't put me on the same side of an argument with Zeke, will ya?
He's rotting in prison for the wrong reasons. I remember how the courtroom erupted when OJ was acquitted. I also remember video of how every tavern on the west side and south side of Chicago erupted (probably all over the country). The motherfucker should have been convicted for that, right then and there, and you know it. And then maybe we could have had peaceful demonstrations in every financially disenfranchised black neighborhood in the country because another poor , oppressed , innocent black man was fucked in the ass by the system.

This is dis-information at it's finest.
Neither got him. He got away with a double murder.

This is inability to see the Big Picture at its finest. He's in prison because he's an entitled criminal.
"I want. I want. It's mine. You can't have it. I am owed. I'm taking it. You can't do anything about it..."
It catches up with most folks bearing that mentality, eventually.
Some folks get convicted of other crimes, some folks get shot for assaulting officers...

That's a very wrong attitude--the idea that cops are entitled to skip the 'convicted of crimes' part, and just shoot people who assault them.

Zeke, you need to lose the entitled viewpoint. First, it allows you to behave and feel superior to others. Second, people do not do things because they feel entitled, or not do things because they are not entitled, in the vast majority of cases.
If you want to get down to brass tacks, entitlement can be tagged to the wealthy vs poor, much more so than criminals vs law abiding citizens. Criminal behavior is a conscious decision with no basis in entitlement.
