Ironic is that the kid was a thief, and lots of theft is how they choose to protest his demise.
Ironic is that 5 days were dedicated to the destruction of the officer's character without any hard evidence, then when hard evidence is presented of the kid's character, it's called character assassination. If anyone assassinated "Big Mike's" character, it was Big Mike.

you are misunderstanding my posts. forget about the politics (even though I was guilty in my post in my demonstration of the correct usage of the term).
the word is used incorrectly all the time...that is my point.
Irony is a term usually best used in subtle language and in points of wit.
Character assassination is in the eye of the beholder. If it comes out that he indeed was attacked by Brown and Brown tried to grab his gun and the shooting was justified I will change my mind. I cannot condone what Brown did at the store but I do not think that requires a death sentence unless he without a doubt tried to take Wilson's gun.
I mean if Wilson really felt that his life was threatened it is an entirely different matter. However I want to see the evidence to prove that. So far there appears to be just the word of a rather inept Police Chief.
Wilson may be getting an unfair wrap...but he is still alive.
It is not ironic that Brown did not get out of the road when asked to do so.
In retrospect it was stupid on his part not to get out of the road when he was asked to do so. But not to the point of being killed.
Your point about the kids not getting out of the road when the cops use gas is not irony at all....it is just kids not getting out of the road when the cops use gas. You see you are not using the term correctly either.
let us use Iraq and ISIS as an example:
It is indeed ironic that 10 years after invading Iraq to end state sponsored terrorism we now find ourselves confronted with a terrorist organization that may prove far more damaging to the Middle East and the United States than Saddam Hussein ever did, hard is that is to believe.
now do you see how the terms ironic and irony should be used?
